Archaefructus was a herbaceous aquatic seed plant that lived during early Cretaceous period 125 million years ago in China. It is one of the earliest known flowering plants. It was 51 cm (20 in) tall.
Archaefructus contains three known species, Archaefructus eoflora, Archaefructus liaoningensis and Archaefructus sinensis.
