Dicroidium was a seed fern that lived during the Triassic period 251 to 200 million years ago all ower the continent Gondwana. Dicroidium fossils are known from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Antarctica.
The leaves of Dicroidium were essentially like those of modern ferns however they were forked; giving the appearance of two fern leaves joined at the base. It seems that Dicroidium was a deciduous tree (Its leaves fall of seasonally).
