Rhizodus was a predatory lobe-finned fish in a group or rhizodonts (Order Rhizodontida). Rhizodus lived during the Carboniferous period and was 7 meters (23 feet) long. Because it lived in tropical rivers and freshwater lakes it is the largest known freshwater fish. It was the top predator.
